Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC), through its Governance and Development Management Learning Group / Centre for Project Management, has commenced a three-day “Capacity Building for Safe Infrastructure” programme aimed at strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of engineers and professionals involved in road planning, design, construction, maintenance, and road safety.
The programme, being held from 2083/04/27 to 2083/04/29 at Koshi Hall, NASC, focuses on promoting a safe-system approach to infrastructure development and enhancing the capacity of professionals to identify, assess, and address road safety risks.
The opening session featured Er. Shuva Raj Neupane and Er. Rakesh Maharjan from the Department of Roads (DoR) and Mr. Yagya Prasad Dhungel, Centre Chief, Centre for Project Management, NASC, where they addressed the programme, highlighting the importance of integrating safety considerations into infrastructure planning and project management.
The programme covers a wide range of practical and contemporary road safety issues, including the Safe System Approach, black spot identification and treatment, road crash-site assessment, road safety inspection, safer side drains and forgiving roadsides, urban road safety, pedestrian facilities, crash barriers, traffic signs and road markings, work-zone safety, and temporary traffic management.
The programme is designed to provide participants with both conceptual understanding and practical tools that can be applied in their respective infrastructure projects. Through interactive sessions, case studies, practical discussions, and experience sharing, the programme seeks to contribute to safer and more resilient road infrastructure in Nepal.
