Nepal Administrative Staff College concluded the three-day “Capacity Building for Safe Infrastructure” programme today, aimed at strengthening the professional capacity of engineers and officials in road safety, infrastructure planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel, Officiating Executive Director, NASC, who distributed certificates to the participants upon successful completion of the programme.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel, Department Head, Governance and Development Management Learning Group (GDMLG), NASC; Mr. Yagya Prasad Dhungel, Centre Head, Centre for Project Management (CPjM), NASC; and representatives from the Department of Roads (DoR), including Mr. Rakesh Maharjan, Section Chief, Road Safety and Traffic Section, and Er. Sabin Joshi, Division Chief, Road Division.
On behalf of the participants, Mr. Ram Kumar Shrestha shared feedback on the training programme. He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Roads and NASC in organizing the capacity-building programme and particularly commended the decision to give dedicated attention to road safety and safe infrastructure, an area of growing importance in Nepal's infrastructure development.
Mr. Shrestha highlighted the practical relevance of the sessions and expressed appreciation for the resource persons who shared technical knowledge, field experiences, case studies, and practical approaches related to road safety. He noted that the knowledge gained from the programme would be useful for participants in their respective professional responsibilities.
The programme emphasized practical approaches to integrating road safety into infrastructure planning, design, construction, and maintenance. Nepal-based case studies and practical discussions enabled participants to examine existing challenges and identify appropriate measures for improving the safety and functionality of road infrastructure.
The collaboration between NASC and the Department of Roads provided an important platform for combining institutional capacity-building expertise with technical and field-level experience in road safety. The programme sought to promote a stronger safety culture and encourage the systematic incorporation of safety considerations throughout the infrastructure project cycle.
The closing ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, marking the successful completion of the three-day programme and reinforcing the shared commitment of NASC and DoR toward developing safer, more resilient, and user-friendly infrastructure in Nepal.
