The graduation ceremony of 51st Senior Executive Development Program (SEDP) was conducted on Ashar 12th, 2083 at Kastamandap Hall, Sampada Sadan. The program was chaired by Officiating Executive Director of NASC, Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel, the chief guest of the program was the chief secretary of Government of Nepal, Mr. Suman Raj Aryal. The secretary of Ministry of Land Management, Co-operatives, Federal Affairs & General Administration Mr. Madan Bhujel was the special guest of the program.
Mr. Prabhat Kumar Jha shared the reflection of the six months training program on behalf of the participants. He commended NASC for its well-designed curriculum and effective training management, and also offered suggestions for improving the curricula by addition of contemporary topics including procurement where everyone seems struggling. He emphasized the need for continuous learning and unlearning to stay relevant and effective, noting that such programs are crucial for the development of Nepal. The peer-to-peer bonding and learning they developed during the training program was appreciable. He thanked NASC for organizing such a meaningful program as well as suggested that SEDP should be organized early on the career of a joint secretary.
Then Department Chief of Public Service Training Department, Mr. Trilochan Pokharel reflected on the journey of the participants and provided an overview of the programme and its key outcomes. He emphasized that the participants should think about future of governing based on the present and past experience. He also suggested that NASC is a learning lab and participants are welcomed anytime they would want to solicit feedback, advice or solutions. Then the guest of the program Mr Bhujel congratulated the participants and suggested to reflect the learning in their workplace so that it will generate the required outcome for the government. He shed light on importance of the training and how he is inspired to see competent workforce in Nepal’s bureaucracy.
Then the strategic documents and policy documents prepared by the participants were handed to the chief secretary by the officiating ED of NASC. This was followed by the certification distribution ceremony. On his remarks, Mr. Aryal congratulated and informed the participants that they are now ready towards the journey of Secretary in Government of Nepal. He also addressed the challenges of working in teams and how we should emphasis on group dynamics. He suggested that there should be positive shift in mindset before and after the training. Similarly, he mentioned that learning and sharing culture is almost dead and we have to revive it. A total of 25 participants graduated the training program including three from SEDP 50.
The program concluded with closing remarks by officiating ED, Mr Basanta Raj Sigel. He extended his congratulations to the graduates and wished them continued success in their future endeavors and requested the participants to keep working with good faith and responsibly. He underscored that it is important for joint secretaries for contextual reflection, become competent in their domain and use their conscience in making decisions.
