NASC Discussion Series 70 was organized by Center for Research and Development on 8th April 2022 virtually on the topic “Key turning points in western intellectual history”. Mr. Sanjeev Pokharel, head of the Programme for Support to Local Governance Programme in GIZ at Islamabad was speaker for the event. Mr. Trilochan Pokharel, Sr. Director of Studies and department head of ‘Governance and Development Management Learning Group’ moderated the event. Ms. Achala Dahal, Chief of Center for Research and Development started the event by welcoming all the participants and introducing the event.
Many of the structures and ideas that form our contemporary world come from the Western tradition – the Western experiences of nation-building, state-citizen relations and so on. Works of philosophers like Immanuel Kant, Rene Decartes, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Michel Foucault etc were shared by the speaker. The key concepts of western intellectual history discussed by the speaker helped participants understand themselves better by understanding the West.
The event was attended by 38 participants of NASC including Dr. Rajan Khanal, Executive Director, Mr. Anand Dhakal, Sr. Director of Studies, Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel, Sr. Director of Studies Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel, Sr. Director of Studies and other faculties.
