Ms. Durga Chhatkuli chaired the session and Mr. Bishwa Prakash Jnawali acted as Master of the Ceremony. Likewise, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Shrestha and Mr. Rhishav Bhattarai made the presentation. Ms. Padma Laxmi GC and Mr. Dinesh Gautam beautifully managed the event. Ms. Durga Chhatkuli welcomed all the guests and participants in the event. In her welcome speech, she shared that by 2027 AD, the deposit of our banking sector will be around 115 Kharba and similarly loan portfolio will be around 105 Kharba.
The presenters emphasized that future credit will be decided by four-factor changes namely: Political/Legal, Socio-Economic, Technological and External Environment. The political/Legal aspect comprises of policies adopted by government and regulatory like Nepal Rastra Bank and others. Similarly, demographic changes i.e. migration of people from rural to urban; from hilly to Terai etc. comes under socioeconomic factor. Likewise, changes in banking serving channels i.e. Digital banking, Fintech emergence etc. are factors of technological changes. International issues like wars between Russia and Ukraine and similar other insurgency in the world, outbreak of pandemics, relation between Nepal and immediate neighboring countries are the major external factors that can determine the credits in Nepal.
In the event it was concluded that, being underdeveloped country, the credit in Nepal will be more in infrastructure sector and at the same time consumer loan demand will also be more because of remittance growth, demographic and life style changes of Nepalese people. This situation will also force the banks to be stronger and safer in future.
Mr. Pawan Regmi, Mr. Bimal Dangol, Mr. Nimble Shrestha and Mr. Sandip Jung Karki gave their comments on the presentation. Dr. Khanal gave concluding remarks to overall event. At last, Ms. Durga Chhatkuli thanked all and ended the session with her closing remarks and a beautiful poem.
