Commencement of OPMD training for the newly appointed Class-II Officers of the GoN

A seven days Orientation Program on Management and Development (OPMD) for the newly appointed Class-II Officers of Government of Nepal has commenced from 19th Jestha– 29th Jestha 2080 at Mahakali Hall of Mangal Sadan. There are total number of 21 participants from various services of Government of Nepal (GoN).

The opening ceremony of the program was chaired by Dr. Rajan Khanal, Executive Director of the Nepal Administrative Staff College. Moreover, the opening event has the presence of the other dignitaries: Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel – Departmental Head of Public Service Training Department (PSTD) and Mr. Trilochan Poudyal – Centre Chief of Centre for Induction Training (CIT).

The program was formally started with the introductory session from the participants.

Afterwards, Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel very briefly put his opening remarks where he congratulated and welcomed all the participants to NASC. He highlighted on the aspects of seven days customized program schedule. He stressed on the implementation of customized course was the result of feedback and suggestions received from the previous participants of the same training program. With the inclusive and diverse group presented at the OPMD training, it was very necessary to design the course as a comprehensive learning experience. Moreover, he reminded the participants to take this training program as a platform to learn from each other as a learning laboratory where all the participants will gain more of practical applications with theoretical knowledge as a compliment to it. He additionally requested participants to view this training program from the three frameworks: Leadership; Policy level skills & knowledge and Delivering result to have the effective public service delivery.

Similarly, Dr. Khanal in his opening remarks firstly congratulated and welcomed all the participants to the program. During his remarks, Dr. Khanal very briefly explained about the challenges faced while designing this customized training course. Moreover, Dr. Khanal added on the three frameworks of this training program as an essential tools for the participants to excel their future professional skills for effective public service delivery. He informed about the many challenges that have to face by the participants in future and at the same time how they have maintain their integrity, patience and be an effective to deliver the results to public. He reminded that the expectations of the today’s public in much higher in terms of technological and faceless public services. Consequently, there has been many gaps with the desired expectation and existing public services, therefore, it is the responsibility of the participants as a mid-level managers in the GoN on how to effectively intervene those gaps. Lastly, he asked participants to be more inquisitive and curious on how to deliver the effective service to the public. ion to bring the people together.

The training management team for this program consists of Mr. Trilochan Poudyal, Mr. Sahilendra Prasad Bhatta and Ms. Roshani Bhujel.
