The 3-day long Leadership and Management Training for Student Officers of the All Arms Command and Staff Course of the Nepali Army War College has commenced (Poush 18-20, 2079) at Prithvi Hall, Dikshya Sadan of NASC. In the opening ceremony, Senior Director of Studies and Head of the Management Learning Group, Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel, the Commandant of the Nepali Army War College, Major General Asha Bahadur Tamang, PhD; and the Director of Studies and Chief of the Centre for Organization Development, Mr. Binod Kumar Bista were present as distinguished dignitaries along with the faculties of NASC. Ms. Anita Poudel hosted the formal program. In the welcome remarks, Mr. Bista welcomed the 45 student officers and provided a brief overview of the course and the sessions included in the training. He highlighted the long partnership between the Nepal Administrative Staff College and the Nepali Army in the area of capacity development. Following, Major General Tamang emphasized the importance of the training program in the holistic approach to civil-military coordination. He further highlighted on the importance of gaining world perspectives by Nepali Army through these training programs. In the opening remarks, Mr. Sigdel highlighted on the important contribution of Nepali Army in our nation, society and our individual lives as a whole. He then emphasized on 3 I’s (Initiative, Innovation, and intelligence) as a crucial component of being a leader. He stated that leaders are those who take initiative and make a difference. They need to have innovative thinking for change. Moreover, they need to possess intelligence in various areas for transformation and change. He finally wished all the best to the student officers and requested them to make the programme meaningful and lively. The training is being coordinated by team members from the Centre for Organization Development: Ms. Anita Poudel, Mr. Pramod Niroula, and Ms. Chandni Kayastha.
