The five days training program on occupational health and safety (OHS) for the ADB project officials started on 12 September 2022. PMU Head of ADB/NRM, Mr. Arnaud Heckman chaired the opening session. Senior Officer of ADB Mr. DB Singh, TA Team Leader Dr. Surya Prakash Shrestha, and Resource Person Mr. Kabiraj Pun were present as dignitaries/resource persons in the ceremony. Mr. Shiva Hari Adhikari hosted the event.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Heckman stated that establishing an efficient OHS plan with implementation, monitoring, and reporting mechanism is the initiation towards ensuring a safe and productive work environment for timely and successful implementation of projects. He further stated that one small negligence will be directly related to the life of a person with the consequences of associated cost, compensation, stoppage of work, low workers morale, etc. all causing loss of time and scarce resources. He thanked NASC for collaborating with ADB in organizing the important event and expressed that the training will help to enhance the capacity of project professionals in the field of OHS.
