
The second event of “Training of Trainers (ToT) for the Officers of Agriculture and Livestock Development” has commenced from 30th Jestha, 2079 in Bagmati Hall, Mangal Sadan at Nepal Administrative Staff College. The training was organized by Centre for Human Resource Management (CHRM), under Management Learning Group. This training was designed for 6 working days from 30 Jestha, 2079 to 06 Ashad, 2079 (13 June, 2022 – 20 June, 2022). It was designed as per the request of Rural Enterprise and Economic Development Project (REED) - Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD). The participants were of officer level working in agriculture and livestock development. There were 15 participants with 3 Female and 12 Male. The participants were from different parts of the country such as Dadheldhura, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Sarlahi, Dhanusha, Morang, Sunsari and such.
This training is the second event of its kind. Therefore, a few changes were made in the schedule and organizing strategies taking the feedback provided and experienced from the first event. It was intended to enhance the capacities of the officers of MoALD who are involved in training activities and contributing as a resource person in various forums or who have the potential in training design, delivery and management. Conceptualization of systematic approaches to training and adult learning principles, use of appropriate training methods and demonstration of key skills required for effective facilitation and presentation remain the key highlights of this training.
The opening event was held in Bagmati Hall in the presence of Mr. Devi Dutta Bhatta, Deputy Director, Mr. Uttam Acharya, Centre Chief – CHRM and Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel – Head of Management Learning Group. Mr. Anup Bhurtel hosted the event. He commenced by addressing all the dignitaries and welcoming all the valued participants. He then briefed about the training stating the key objectives of organizing the training. He then invited Mr. Acharya to give valuable remarks. Mr Acharya again welcomed all the participants and set the context of how the term ‘facilitator’ is used widely these days in adult learning environment. He added that it was about enhancing how to perform as an expert and use different technique of teaching the content effectively. He also added ToT as a training to teach the process which is then followed by practicum that blends some contents. He stressed that there is no right or wrong in such training and it is sharing approach. With the warm wishes of learning in the training, he ended his speech. Mr. Bhurtel then requested Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel to give opening remarks and announce the formal commencement of the program. Mr. Sigdel also welcomed the participants to the premise of NASC. He added adult learning principles give focus on how we learn such through seeing or observing and that ToT is an essential life skill such cooking skills. He added that such training is intended to strengths the content expert professionally and to be able to teach someone effectively and express oneself is a great quality one can possess. He also explained that one generation always wants the offspring or the next generation to be better and more competent and connected that the participants of ToT are also expected to impart knowledge and skills to juniors or clients. Highlighting that how the ToT of 6 days ahead becomes is all upon us, he announced the formal commencement of the training.
