Opening Ceremony for the Basic Training of New Engineers of General Sub-group of Department of Local Infrastructure-DoLI

The Opening Ceremony for the Basic Training of New Engineers of General Sub-group took place on December 31, 2024. This event was chaired by Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel, who is the Head of the Governance Development and Management Learning Group (GDMLG) at NASC. He was joined by other officials, including Mr. Mahesh Chandra Neupane, the Director General of the Department of Local Infrastructure (DoLI), Mr. Narayan Prasad Shrestha from DoLI, and Mr. Sundar Shrestha, who heads the Center for Project Management at NASC.

During the ceremony, Mr. Narayan Shrestha emphasized that the training program includes sessions focused on the administrative and financial challenges participants will encounter in their careers. He urged attendees to engage actively in all sessions. He noted that the training is structured to feature expertise from various sectors. Additionally, he mentioned that there will be a post-evaluation of participants at the training's closing ceremony. In closing, he expressed gratitude to NASC for their support in facilitating this training.

Mr. Sundar Shrestha noted that the new officers currently lack practical knowledge about real-world work scenarios. He stated that this training aims to improve their ability to operate effectively in real-time situations. He mentioned that sharing experiences from experts will facilitate their work processes. Additionally, he encouraged participants to acquire hands-on knowledge through this training, as they have already gained theoretical understanding.

Mr. Neupane expressed that training programs like this are crucial during the early stages of one's career. Reflecting on his own beginnings, he recounted the challenges he faced in understanding the official terminology used in the workplace. He encouraged participants to embrace a positive organizational culture and not hesitate to ask questions.

Mr. Sigdel stated that since the participants are esteemed professionals of the country, failure is not an option for them. He emphasized that while we can learn from experience, it should not be repeated. He expressed gratitude to the Department of Local Infrastructure (DoLI) for allowing NASC to manage this training, noting that NASC would also benefit from the experience gained through it.
