Closing ceremony of Leadership Development Programme (LDP) for newly appointed class I officers (Joint Secretary) of Government of Nepal

The five-day training on Leadership Development Programme for ten newly appointed gazette class I officers from internal competition started on 23 Falgun 2078 formally concluded in 30 Falgun 2078, Monday. Executive Director of NASC, Dr. Rajan Khanal, Secretary of Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), Mr. Suresh Adhikari, Senior Director of Studies, NASC and Department Chief of Public Service Training Department (PSTD), Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel and Director of Studies, NASC and Centre Chief of Centre for Induction Training (CIT), Mr. Trilochan Poudyal were present in the closing program. Mr. Poudyal hosted the closing ceremony.

Ms. Parbati Sharma expressed the learning experience on behalf of the participants. She thanked MoFAGA and NASC for initiating and organizing the training program. She said that in the short period of five days they have gained lots if insights from various resource persons that will be helpful in their career ahead. She also expressed that the training has imparted various knowledge and skills in the areas of management and governance and is committed to implementing it in their professional life. She further added the need for extension of the program, added case-based learning, and addition of field components so that their learning will be enhanced. She also expressed the inclusion of female speakers and instructors.

Mr. Poudyal assured the participants that the given feedback will be incorporated in the future Training Need Assessment and included in the training content in the future. Department Head, Mr. Sigdel congratulated participants for completing the training program successfully. He expressed his belief that the participants have benefitted from the training program. He also emphasized the changed role of the participants under a new context where they have to assume the role of leader and drive the organization and their subordinates. He also thanked for the feedback from participants that will be used as input for the redesign of further programs. Further, he added that one should never stop asking questions as this will lead towards the right path.

Then Secretary Mr. Adhikari congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the training program. He said that it is now the turn of the participants to convert the learning to their experience that will help them to perform better in their role and responsibility. He mentioned the need for proper experience and commitment of the participants to perform in the current position so they can perform well in the higher executive level of the Government of Nepal. Further, he pointed out the expectation of improved public service delivery from the newly appointed officers.

Finally, the Executive Director of NASC, Dr. Khanal, distributed the certificate to the participants and delivered the closing remarks of the program. He congratulated the participants and expressed that this is a moment of happiness as a program had come to the end. He also expressed that NASC is a learning institution and it will always learn from the feedback of the participants to make its service better every time. He also shared the need for spiritual learning and understanding in the participants. The spiritual understanding will help to know about the philosophy of life and this will help them to perform as a good public officials. He advised that with the end of the training, the education has ended by today, and now it is time to show competency in their work performance. He then congratulated all participants for the successful completion of the training program and wished them for their successful professional life ahead. He then announced the formal closing of the closing ceremony.
