Closing and Certification Ceremony of “Innovating Public Policy: Use of Evidence- (InnoPolE)”

The closing ceremony of the training Program “Innovating Public Policy: Use of Evidence (InnoPolE) for the Class-II Officers of the different government organizations was held on the 16 Ashadh 2079. The seven day programme was organized by the Center for Development Policy and Management (CDPM) from 8 – 16 Ashadh 2079.

The ceremony was chaired by Dr.Rajan Khanal, Executive Director of NASC and Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti, Executive Chairperson of PRI. The department head of the GDMLG was present in the ceremony along with the Center Chief of CDPM, Mr. Ishwari Prasad Ghimire. Moreover, the ceremony was witnessed by the facilitators and representatives from PRI and the participants of the training program. Mr. Ishwari Prasad Ghimire, hosted the ceremony event and welcomed all the dignitaries, participants, course and training coordinators Ms. Roshani Bhujel and Ganesh Sah.

At a learning and experience sharing platform of the ceremony, Dr. Lok Nath Bhusal shared the overall impressions of the training program on behalf of all 19 participants. He expressed that the training program was very successful in terms of targeted participants. Furthermore, he expressed his happiness towards the synergy and coordination among the NASC and PRI where he wished for the continuous coordination between NASC and PRI in future also. He very beautifully summarized the seven days training program and shared that all the participant was very impressed by the design of the course and training program. Moreover, he stated that with this course, now they are able to identify the gap in policy making or in policy reviewing and even shared that the training has made them to delve deeper in terms of policy making with the use of evidence. On behalf of all the participants, he committed to implement the new policy making skills and knowledge at their work place and will impart to seniors and sub-ordinates. At the concluding part, he requested to upgrade this training program to the advance level.

Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti from PRI congratulated to all the participants. He shared that the collaboration with NASC from course designing to training conduction was one of the biggest landmark for PRI. He added that PRI will continue to co-ordinate and collaborate with NASC in upgrading the course at advance level. Dr. Upreti expressed that at advance level the course will include the component of policy making- elaboration of policy brief. At last, he requested all the participants to implement the experiences and learning of the training at work place.

Following Dr. Upreti’s speech, certificate was awarded to the participants by Dr.Rajan Khanal. On his closing remarks, Dr. Khanal firstly congratulated the graduating participants and GDMLG department for executing this ambitious training program on innovating public policy. He referred that the training program was a lab where facilitators from NASC and PRI were there to facilitate and the participants were players to deliver the policy brief as an output of the training program. Since, the policy brief is the outcome, he stated that impact of policy brief should result in the effective outcome at their respective work place. He emphasized that the five policy brief prepared by the participants will be tested by sharing it to executive officers of the government at the upcoming SEDP program. He concluded the closing ceremony with an expectation that the participants would implement their learnings and experiences at the work place.
