A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present a variety of spatial and geographical data. It is the best tool for spatial data analysis. GIS is very important, especially for planning, monitoring, evaluation, and decision making. It has been used in engineering, environmental science, land surveying, urban planning, emergency management, business intelligence, and Web mapping applications.

In this discussion series, the speaker will discuss the importance of GIS and its’ implementation in public service delivery in terms of planning, surveying, and decision-making tool.
